A top-five matchup at this point of the season is going to have even more on it considering what it could mean for the field of the College Football Playoff. That’s certainly so ahead of kickoff between No. 5 Indiana and No. 2 Ohio State, specifically when talking about IU.

Paul Finebaum assessed the game between Indiana and Ohio State while on ‘Get Up’ on Friday. He is fully focusing on how the Hoosiers look in this matchup and, in turn, the final score from Columbus. That will speak a ton about how legitimate they are compared to other teams trying to make the CFP.

“The game is all about how Indiana plays,” said Finebaum. “The line is at -13.5. Can they keep it respectable?”

“If it is respectable then Indiana can start punching tickets to the CFP. But, if it’s a blowout, if it’s a mauling, which I think it has a chance to be? Then this committee has a very difficult decision whether they want to have a nice story or if they want to put the best team in,” Finebaum said. “In that case, I would recommend getting rid of Indiana in a blowout.”

It’s not even as much of a recommendation as it is an expectation, though, with what Finebaum’s prediction is for Saturday’s game in The Shoe being the first loss of the season for the Hoosiers.

“I think Ohio State is going to win this game convincingly,” Finebaum said.

Although at 10-0, Indiana has been questioned throughout this fall, especially now with it almost being the postseason. They’re having one of their best seasons in school history in being undefeated and with their margin of victory being the highest in the country. Still, some could discredit that to an extent considering the strength of schedule this year for the Hoosiers.

Ohio State is by far the best team that Indiana will face this entire season. That makes it all the more crucial that they justify themselves by winning or keeping it at least within consideration against the Buckeyes, especially with many critiquing them in the context of the CFP.
