Colorado Buffs BLASTED By Nebraska | Has Anything Really CHANGED From Last Year For Deion Sanders?

After narrowly defeating North Dakota State in Week 1, Colorado fell 28-10 to Nebraska on Saturday. During an appearance on “The Matt Barrie Show,” Paul Finebaum made a bold prediction about head coach Deion Sanders’ future with the program.

“I don’t think Deion Sanders will be there next year,” Finebaum said. “This season, when they fail to go to a bowl game, he’s going to look around and try to find an exit strategy. No more Travis [Hunter], no more Shedeur [Sanders] — what’s the motivation for him to beat himself up? So, I think enjoy the Deion show. It will be playing somewhere next year. It may be off Broadway. It may be on Broadway. But it won’t be in Boulder.”

Colorado came out flat against Nebraska, only recording 260 yards of total offense. For reference, the Buffaloes tallied 454 yards in their win over the Huskers last season.

The Buffaloes never found a rhythm in the ground game against Nebraska, recording 16 total rushing yards in the loss on 22 attempts. Worse, Colorado’s offense committed two turnovers, one of which was a pick-six in the first quarter.

As Finebaum mentioned, Colorado’s best two players, two-way standout Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, are both expected to be first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. The pair are the foundation of Colorado’s program and Finebaum believes when they leave, Deion Sanders will follow suit.

Nonetheless, Deion Sanders addressed similar speculations in June during an appearance on “The Joel Klatt Show.”

“I’m a leader of men, not a follower of men. I’m a father, not a baby daddy. I lead my sons. I don’t follow my sons,” Sanders said. “My sons, Travis [Hunter] included, are getting ready to migrate to the NFL. I’m not following them to the NFL.

“I paved the way for my babies. They’re not paving the way for me. So, I plan on being here and being dominant here, because they’re establishing something that we’re going to continue to build on for years to come. And I’m thankful that they’re establishing what they’re establishing.”

For now, Colorado can only worry about the present. Up next, the Buffaloes will face off against Colorado State at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air live on CBS.
