Paul Finebaum predicts winner of Georgia-Tennessee with College Football Playoff looming
The biggest game of the upcoming weekend is a Top-15 matchup between the hedges with No. 7 Tennessee vs. No. 12 Georgia. It’s one that neither can afford to lose but does have more stakes for one more so than the other.
Paul Finebaum made his pick for the game between the Volunteers and Bulldogs while on ‘Get Up’ on Friday. He does think that, in the end, Georgia wins it tomorrow night to keep their season alive.
“I think they will,” said Finebaum. “There’s a mathematical chance that they don’t. They’re a favorite. They’re playing a very good team with question marks at the quarterback position.”
However, Finebaum is keeping up with the injury report for this one from the SEC too. Key players on each side of the ball for both teams have statutes going into kickoff that could impact that outcome.
“The latest reports are that the Tennessee quarterback is going to pass through the concussion protocol,” Finebaum noted. “Georgia is without its best running back, which is a problem.”
This game being where it is on the schedule makes it all the more important for each team. Tennessee (8-1) is in first place in the conference with there being three weeks left before the SEC Championship while also currently being set to host a game in the CFP. Georgia (7-2), though, is playing for their playoff lives as a third loss would cost them contention for both the conference and national titles.

That makes this one more of a must-win for Georgia, especially after their placement at No. 12 in the CFP Rankings earlier this week.
“I don’t trust this committee period. I certainly wouldn’t trust them with three losses,” said Finebaum. “What Georgia has to do tomorrow is hold on.”
Georgia has disappointed at several points throughout this season, which will be at least their first two-loss finish in four years. Still, Finebaum doesn’t have them losing a third yet as he took the ‘Dawgs over the Vols.
“This has been a troublesome team but I think this schedule has beaten them down. They’ll overcome it tomorrow night in Athens,” said Finebaum.
