Paul Finebaum has revealed his Rank & File Top 4 + 1 following a seismic Week 9.

The talk of college football – the Tennessee Volunteers – are not atop his list just yet, but they’re pretty close. Ohio State, Georgia and Michigan remain, but Finebaum added in the TCU Horned Frogs to file away who are quietly creeping into the College Football Playoff picture.

Here is Finebaum’s explanation:

“At No. 4, we start with Michigan. Very good performance last night against a rival – a rival that has had success against the Wolverines in recent years – it was dominating in every single way, So Michigan, still pretty much knocking off all the opponents until they get to Columbus,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter Sunday morning. “At No. 3, this is the tough one because you can easily make a case for Tennessee being the No. 1 team in the country – and we might a week from today – but the Vols we’re just dominating against a very good, or at least we thought a good, Kentucky team that just got run over by Tennessee.

“Another team you could make a case for number one, Georgia got way out on Friday yesterday in Jacksonville, held on and then had its way in the final half against its rival Florida. No. 1, what about Ohio State? The Buckeyes did what they had to do in that fourth quarter as we alluded to. … And the file team – how about this – TCU. They continued to win yesterday on the road at West Virginia and they still have a difficult road left. But how about this opening performance for the new coach at TCU, Sonny Dykes, it’s been amazing.”

Finebaum did say he believes Ohio State will be his No. 1 team for the last time this season, as the winner between Georgia and Tennessee, a top-three matchup, will undoubtedly climb to the front of Finebaum’s list. The loser could find themselves on the outside of the College Football Playoff picture looking in.
