Paul Finebaum isn’t surprised in the least seeing the Bo Wallace, Hugh Freeze situation over the weekend.

The Auburn head coach was called out by his former Ole Miss quarterback, who claimed Freeze constantly threw his QBs under the bus. That came on the heels of Freeze criticizing his current group of signal callers after a loss to Arkansas.

Wallace’s lengthy rant received a lot of attention and put Freeze in the crosshairs. It’s just the latest problem with the Auburn football program, according to Finebaum.

“It’s not just the reality of the situation, which is on the field, it’s this growing perception that this thing is coming undone,” Finebaum said on McElroy and Cubelic. “And I realize what I’m about to go is unrelated to the X’s and O’s, but when (one of) your quarterbacks goes on social media, Bo Wallace over the weekend, and calls you out and says that you have a history of throwing quarterbacks under the bus, and I’m speaking of what Bo Wallace said about Hugh Freeze.

“And then you post that you wouldn’t let your own son play for him, you had just been married to a social media post that you will never be able to outrun. Because Hugh Freeze, primarily, has made a career off of that Bo Wallace win in 2014 and the win the next year.”

It wasn’t just Wallace, Freeze caught the attention of other sports columnists, which Finebaum alluded to. All in all, the Tigers are 2-2 and could tumble this season.

“And then this morning, just one of many that you’ll begin to hear, a columnist at USA Today essentially compared Hugh Freeze to Jimmy Swaggart, and has called the program a cesspool,” Finebaum said. “So I mean, that’s the noise. And then you’ve got a situation with Oklahoma coming in, which is not a great team, but has close to an elite defense, Greg.

“And if you don’t win this game, and stop the bleeding, your season, literally, is going to spiral out of control. That’s not what you want at Auburn where you have quick trigger boys upstairs, who sold their souls to get you the job. And now you’re disappointing them and everyone else.”
