For the second straight season, Alabama found themselves in a second-half fight with South Florida. Still, considering all things, it doesn’t concern Paul Finebaum at all.

Finebaum discussed the 42-16 win for the Crimson Tide over USF during ‘McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning’ on Monday. He said how the season went for them after last year’s close call against this same team should prove to anyone that this year’s result, especially since it still ended in a 26-point victory, should mean very little about ‘Bama.

“I think Alabama fans ought to learn what we all learned a year ago. Any take, any hot take, any opinion on the game with South Florida is completely worthless because we got nothing out of that last year,” said Finebaum. “While I was hearing from friends of both of ours on Saturday night of people in panic, it turned out that the score says that Alabama won. It looked like a comfortable win. We all know it wasn’t and I frankly don’t think it makes a bit of difference.”

“The fact that Alabama could win the fourth quarter in such a dominating fashion, to me, is good.”

With that said, the Tide also have some things to correct from the first three quarters.

“Yeah, I mean there are issues. I think we read way too much into the first week, which we always do sometimes,” said Finebaum.

Alabama was up at just 14-13 midway through the third and into the fourth quarter. That came after a slower start before a fumble gave the Bulls the field position to score their lone touchdown and cut it to one.

However, the Crimson Tide would score four consecutive touchdowns in the final frame. Each took four plays or less to find the end zone with a pair in passing and two in rushing. With that, they won the fourth by a score of 28-3 to create the official margin.

Finebaum just saw very little to take away from this second win of their season. He’s now far more interested in what Alabama does over the next two weeks.

“I know that sounds like I’m just wiping it away but sometimes that happens,” said Finebaum.

“The most important thing now is to move on, go on the road, and have an experience and a game that Alabama should win. I think Vegas is indicating that it should be pretty comfortable,” said Finebaum. “Then get ready for really what the season is all about starting with Georgia in a couple of weeks.”
