Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy athlete Cam Miller has committed to Penn State. The 6-foot, 180-pound senior reeled in close to 20 offers, and after taking some visits, evaluating his options, and talking things over with those close to him, he got down to Penn State and Virginia Tech.

Early in the summer the Hokies were trending, but after two trips to Happy Valley, Penn State pulled ahead and Miller hasn’t looked back.

“I went back and forth between the schools for a little while, and Virginia Tech was on top at one time, but I kept my eyes open and I know Penn State is the right school for me,” said Miller. “After my last visit I thought about things for a couple of weeks, talked it all out with my family and made my decision. I feel great about Penn State.”

Penn State checks all the boxes for the four-star. He saw everything Penn State had to offer in June and he’s excited about being part of the program.

“I really like what coach James Franklin is doing and I love what he is building. He is a great coach, the other coaches are good guys and I really enjoy the atmosphere and environment there. Penn State has great academics too and I love how they can set me up there also.

“It is just a great fit for me all around.”

Franklin got the Call

Franklin and cornerbacks coach Terry Smith got the call a week ago. On July 19, a week before Miller made the public announcement, he let the Penn State staff in on the decision.

“I got on facetime with coach Franklin and coach Smith. We chopped it up, and then I told them about my commitment. They were really excited. They were pumped up and it was a great call and a great feeling.”

Bright Future Ahead

The decision has been made and he is now looking forward to his future in the Big Ten.

“I can’t wait to play in big games in front of 110,000 fans,” said Miller. “I want to help make history at Penn State.”

Miller is such a versatile athlete, and there is a lot he could do for the Nittany Lions. He had offers as an athlete, wide receiver and safety, but his preference is cornerback. That is what he plans to play for Penn State.

“I love the position and I feel I can do really well at cornerback. I watch Jalen Ramsey a lot and I think I can bring some of how he plays to Penn State. It is exciting to think about the future there.”
