Royersford (Pa.) Spring-Ford four-star quarterback Matt Zollers is one of the nation’s elite quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class.

The star signal-caller ranks No. 85 overall and No. 8 among quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 rates Zollers higher than the rest of the recruiting industry — ranking him No. 17 overall and No. 3 among quarterbacks.

The 6-foot-3.5, 200-pound Zollers is currently focused on his high school basketball season. But, once that comes to a close, visits and a commitment could be on the horizon.

On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons spoke about Zollers’ timeline on The Inside Scoop football recruiting show.

“He’s being pretty open and pretty transparent,” Simmons said. “His number one focus right now is to go and finish basketball, I think they’re deep in the playoffs. However long they go, he’ll play that and leave that to be his focus. As soon as that’s over, he’s going to hop on the phone with his family to try to lock in dates this month in March to get to his final four — Georgia, Missouri, Penn State and Pittsburgh — for a spring practice.

“He’d like to decide if not by the end of March, early in April. So I think a month or so from now, he’ll be putting his name on that commitment list.”

Georgia battling with Penn State

Penn State currently trends for Zollers in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine at 49.5% — but Georgia continues to make him a priority. Still, it will take some work to pull Zollers away from the in-state program.

“If I had to name a team to beat I still lean toward Penn State,” Simmons said. “He’s been there so many times, I think double-digit visits to Happy Valley. He’s been to Georgia just once; obviously that one visit earlier this year made a strong impression and left them in the final four and really, I think competing for that top spot with Penn State.

“If I had to lean one way because of comfort, distance to home, familiarity — I go Penn State. But it’s super close with them and Georgia. [Georgia offensive coordinator] Mike Bobo — what they’ve done as a program the last few years definitely has his attention.”
