In what has been a disappointing season for both teams — albeit to very differing degrees — Penn State and Michigan State will both still have a shot to hoist a rivalry trophy at the end of the season. And for the first time, the game will be played at a neutral site: Ford Field in Detroit, instead of Spartan Stadium.

And the nine-win Nittany Lions are expected to get the 10th, clocking in as a 20-point favorite over the Spartans, according to FanDuel. The over/under is set at 42.5 total points.

How to watch Penn State vs. Michigan State

Date/Time: Nov. 24, 7:30 p.m. ET
Channel: NBC, FuboTV
Location: Detroit, Michigan

While Penn State fell short of its ultimately goal of competing for a Big Ten title, the Nittany Lions can still cinch a likely trip to a New Years Six bowl with a win over their land grant rivals. Penn State has also won three of the last four in the series, the lone loss coming by a field goal in East Lansing in 2021.

The biggest concern for the Nittany Lions will be the health of quarterback Drew Allar.

Allar left Penn State’s game early in the third quarter in Week 12 following a hit on a designed run on second down. The Penn State quarterback exited after throwing an incomplete pass.

After he took the big hit, his injury was described as something in the upper body on the broadcast. Beau Pribula subbed in and immediately ran for 39 yards into Rutgers territory as the Nittany Lions held a 10-6 lead.

Allar was checked out on the sideline upon exiting the game. Prior to exiting the game, he was 6-of-13 passing for 79 yards.

It didn’t look great on the sideline once he came out of the medical tent.

“Drew Allar is out of the injury tent but his favoring his right shoulder heavily on the sideline,” BlueWhite Illustrated’s Greg Pickel said on Twitter.

For Michigan State, 2023 has been a disastrous season, headlined by the unsavory ouster of head coach Mel Tucker early in the season. With seven losses, Michigan State is already functionally out of bowl contention. But ending the season with a massive upset and hoisting the Land Grant Trophy could be the sort of thing to propel a team into the offseason with good vibes.
