Whew, we’re kicking off a loaded college hoops Friday with some lunchtime action in the Shriner’s Children’s Charleston Classic. Penn State kicked off the event yesterday with a win over Furman. The Paladins made a feisty comeback attempt in the second half, but ultimately, Nittany Lion seniors Seth Lundy and Jalen Pickett popped for 20 points apiece to push PSU over the edge.

Later on, Virginia Tech took care of business in similar fashion, exorcising some football demons with a close win over Old Dominion, where the Sean Pedulla break out continued. The sophomore point guard is one of the most improved players in the country, having nearly quadrupled his scoring average from a year ago. He’s averaging close to 20 a game while shooting the skin off the ball from three.
