Perry Thompson calls out Jalen Milroe with graphic on social media
At least from the Auburn side, Iron Bowl smack talk is in full effect. Multiple Auburn players have made their thoughts on Alabama known on Monday, all being true freshmen. Wide receiver Perry Thompson is the latest, calling out Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe.
Thompson posted a side-by-side comparison of Milroe’s stats to his own quarterback, Payton Thorne. While no caption is posted, it’s easy to assume Thompson is showing off how Thorne has better numbers than Milroe. He leads in passing yards, touchdowns, and even thrown fewer interceptions.
Thompson is a former Alabama commit but decided to play his college football across the state. Hugh Freeze was able to pull off a massive flip against the Crimson Tide. And it occurred before Kalen DeBoer took over the program when Nick Saban was in charge.
So if anybody has a little extra motivation heading into Saturday’s contest, it’s the freshman wide receiver. And there appears to be big-time confidence in what Thorne can do heading into Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Thompson played high school football at Foley (AL) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 48 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Auburn LB Demarcus Riddick promises to stop Jalen Milroe
Milroe has been a popular target from the Plains. Thompson joined fellow freshman, linebacker Demarcus Riddick, in calling out the second-year Alabama starter. But this was about Milroe’s ability with his feet.
“He is a good quarterback,” Riddick said, per BamaCentral‘s Katie Windham. “He’s fast, but I mean, he’s not faster than me. He will not get out of that box this week.”
Auburn is fresh off seeing Oklahoma being able to contain Milroe, not having a glowing performance against the Sooners. Nothing was going well for the Alabama offense as designed quarterback runs were getting stuffed and the downfield passing game was nonexistent for all four quarters.
The Tigers hoping to pull off the same and get an upset win in what would be a staple victory for Freeze. Auburn has not won an Iron Bowl in four attempts or in Tuscaloosa since the 2010 season — two streaks they are looking to break.
