Dabo Swinney had updates on two important sophomores, one on offense and one on defense, for Clemson.

Swinney shared the latest statuses for Peter Woods and Tyler Brown during his press conference on Wednesday. He said both players remain day-to-day for them ahead of their conference opener this weekend against NC State.

“Yep, still day-to-day, still day-to-day,” said Swinney. “Getting better.”

Woods and Brown both exited or were limited during their last outing against Appalachian State. That has given them over a week to heal up after an early bye for Clemson.

Woods has posted six tackles and a sack in his pair of appearances on their defensive line this season with all of those statistics coming from their opener. That still has him in the top-five for their defense in tackles while also having one of their two sacks on the year. This comes after he was one of the better freshmen in the country last fall with 26 tackles and a forced fumble.

Brown, their leading receiver last year, has caught four passes for 23 yards this season. That has him fourth on the team in receptions and eighth in total yardage through two games. Still, last season, Brown had 52 receptions for 531 yards and four touchdowns.

Based on this update, the Tigers’ idle weekend might have come at the right time for these two ahead of kickoff against the Wolfpack on Saturday.
