It all came down to the final second for Denton (Texas) Guyer five-star safety Peyton Bowen as he flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to Oregon on National Signing Day.

“I didn’t know where I was going until the last second right before I picked up the hat,” Bowen told On3 Social Media Football Recruiting Expert Hayes Fawcett. “I was debating it the whole time.”

Bowen had been committed to the Fighting Irish since January 1 but Oregon and Oklahoma entered the mix over the last few weeks.

While many projected Oklahoma to be the favorite to flip Bowen on National Signing Day, Bowen laid out an Oregon and a Notre Dame hat on the table in front of him ultimately picking up the Ducks hat.

The 6-foot-0, 185-pounder is the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 2 safety and the No. 3 senior recruit in Texas.

Bowen has an On3 NIL Valuation of $263K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
