Denton (Texas) Guyer five-star safety Peyton Bowen has flipped his commitment from Oregon to Oklahoma.

He had previously been committed to Notre Dame since January, but on Wednesday announced he was signing with the Ducks in a major recruiting surprise.

But as of Thursday morning, Bowen hadn’t sent the Ducks his National Letter of Intent. On Thursday, he flipped to the Sooners, who had been pursuing him heavily since his initial commitment to Notre Dame almost a year ago.

Bowen is now one of the cornerstones of the Sooners’ recruiting class alongside his high school teammate and Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Jackson Arnold and five-star EDGE Adepoju Adebawore out of Kansas City (Mo.) North Kansas City.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder is the No. 13 overall recruit in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 2 safety and the No. 3 senior recruit in the state of Texas.
