PFF ranks the highest-rated quarterbacks in Week 2 of college football season
While the opening week of the college football season was unkind to some of the top quarterbacks in college football, Week 2 featured a return to what we’ve come to expect from them. Following uneven performances, Oklahoma’s Spencer Rattler and North Carolina’s Sam Howell both rebounded with great games.
Following an exciting weekend, Pro Football Focus ranked the highest-rated quarterbacks from Week 2 of the College Football season. While a couple familiar names lead the list, some underrated quarterbacks are making their names heard.
Here are the highest rated quarterbacks in Week 2 of the college football season, per PFF:
5) Jarret Doege, West Virginia – 138.7. After throwing two interceptions against Maryland, Doege rebounded in a big way against Long Island University. In the Mountaineers 66-0 victory, the West Virginia quarterback threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns.
4) Brennan Armstrong, Virginia – 138.8. Yesterday, Virginia remained undefeated with a victory over Illinois. In their big win, Armstrong played a fantastic game. Moreover, the Virginia quarterback threw for 405 yards and 5 touchdowns. Next week, the Cavaliers look to upset North Carolina.

3) Matt Corral, Ole Miss – 139.0. After not missing a beat with Lane Kiffin missing from their first game, Corral led the Rebels offense to another impressive performance. Against Austin Peay, the Ole Miss quarterback threw for 281 yards and five touchdowns. With Katy Perry on board for his Heisman campaign, more will come aboard if Corral keeps playing like this.
2) Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma – 146.8. While Tulane gave them a scare, the Sooners took out their frustration with a 76-0 victory over Western Carolina. Specifically, Rattler was impressive — as the quarterback threw for 243 yards and five touchdowns. If Oklahoma is to reach their potential, more performances like yesterday’s are needed for the Sooners quarterback.
1) Sam Howell, North Carolina – 155.8. Following a dismal game against Virginia Tech, Howell began to figure it out yesterday against Georgia State. The Tar Heels quarterback rebounded nicely, throwing for 352 yards and accounting for five touchdowns. The highest-rated quarterback of Week 2 came into 2021 with big expectations. If he can play like he did yesterday, he’ll be able to carry the load.
