PFF ranks top 10 wide receivers entering 2022 season
Wide receivers are sure to be on full display this year in college football, with some big names returning — and moving. PFF ranked its top 10 receivers for 2022, and some of them made some big moves this offseason.
Ohio State star Jaxon Smith-Njigba looks to be the top target for CJ Stroud this year after Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson departed for the NFL. But reigning Biletnikoff Award winner Jordan Addison could make some noise at USC after his high-profile departure from Pittsburgh via the transfer portal this offseason to become Caleb Williams’ No. 1 receiver. Addison came in behind Williams as the No. 2 transfer to hit the portal this year, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings.
One of Williams’ teammates and fellow transfers, Mario Williams, also makes PFF’s list after following him and Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma. Nonetheless, one of the Sooners’ wide receivers who stuck around, Marvin Mims, also appears on the list.
Here are PFF’s top 10 wide receivers for the 2022 season.
1. Jaxon Smith-Njigba — Ohio State
2. Jordan Addison — USC
3. Kayshon Boutte — LSU
4. Xavier Worthy — Texas
5. Josh Downs — North Carolina
6. Mario Williams — USC
7. Keytaon Thompson — Virginia
8. Marvin Mims — Oklahoma
9. Quentin Johnson — TCU
10. Jacob Cowing — Arizona

More on some big names on PFF’s top 10 wide receiver list
Boutte is poised to make some noise this season for LSU and recently received a high honor from the Tigers. He’ll wear the coveted No. 7, which is given to a star player every year, and work to build off a strong campaign in 2021.
Worthy is in an interesting spot for Texas, which brought in former Five Star Plus+ recruit Quinn Ewers from Ohio State this offseason. It’s part of Steve Sarkisian’s plan to get on track after a 5-7 campaign, and Ewers is competing with Hudson Card for the starting job. No matter who becomes QB1, Worthy is all but certain to play a big role in the Longhorns offense as Bijan Robinson anchors the running game.
