The start of Saturday’s second half between Ohio State and Indiana was delayed after a piece of the jumbotron fell onto the court at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. A metal rod landed near Buckeyes freshman Brice Sensabaugh, who was jogging toward his teammates to begin the half.

Thankfully no one was hurt. According to the FOX broadcast, Maintenance at the arena did a thorough check of the scoreboard and concluded that it was safe to resume play a few minutes later.

You can view the moment below.

“Maintenance went up into the scoreboard and they checked things out and the officials have told us that everything is OK after a metal rod fell on the court prior to the start of the second half,” Gus Johnson said on air as play resumed.

This is not the first time this has happened in Bloomington. In 2014, a large metal beam fell from the Assembly Hall ceiling into empty seats. The incident postponed a game against Iowa.

Ohio State State is facing a 46-30 halftime deficit against Indiana after Jalen Hood-Schifino torched the Buckeyes for 20 points in the opening 20 minutes. With the scoreboard debacle now behind them, they’ll hope for a stronger finish to the second half as they aim to bounce back from a loss to Illinois earlier this week.

Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann not worried about off night from Brice Sensabaugh

Ohio State forward Brice Sensabaugh has emerged as one of the top players in the country but when he has a down game, head coach Chris Holtmann doesn’t let the recent result wash over the overall success.

Sensabaugh followed up a 27-point performance Saturday against Iowa with a down game against Illinois. He did score 14 points but he did it on an inefficient 5-for-13 shooting.

Holtman said after the game that a game-to-game dip like that doesn’t impact his thoughts on Sensabaugh.

“Brice has had an excellent year,” Holtmann said. “He’s had a really good freshman year. This is part of the growth process for him. He’s just got to get back to work. He’s hungry. I think this is part of the process. It’s unrealistic to expect the scoring output he had the other night to be consistent, I know you guys know that. I’m hopeful that he’ll learn from this and be better next time out.”
