Louisiana Tech transfer DB Pig Cage has signed with Incarnate Word, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He started his career at Nicholls State, LSU and UTSA before spending this past season at Louisiana Tech.

Cage entered the transfer portal Dec. 9 after one season with the Bulldogs. He was a key contributor on special teams, appearing in seven games and finishing with eight tackles. He turned in his biggest game against New Mexico State, when he had six tackles.

Cage went through spring ball at Nicholls in 2021 before making his way to LSU, where he made eight appearances and started once. He had seven tackles as a true freshman, including three tackles for loss and a sack before taking his talents to UTSA.

In two years with the Roadrunners, Cage had 23 tackles, including 17 in 2022. He also added three tackles for loss from 2023-24 and again entered the portal. That led him to Louisiana Tech, and he’ll now spend his final year of eligibility at Incarnate Word.

Pig Cage played high school football at Metairie (La.) Archbishop Rummel before spending the first three years of his college career in his home state. Now, he’ll stay in Texas after a year in San Antonio.

Incarnate Word is coming off its third FCS quarterfinal appearance in four years and finished 11-3 overall, including a perfect 7-0 in Southland Conference play. It was another impressive season for Clint Killough after replacing GJ Kinne, who left to become the head coach at Texas State, but he had to find a new quarterback after the year ended.

Zach Calzada entered the transfer portal and later committed to Kentucky. It marks a return to the SEC after starting his career at Texas A&M and Auburn.

Calzada had a breakout year for Incarnate Word in 2024, throwing for 3,744 yards and 35 touchdowns, with only nine interceptions. He also rushed for 332 yards and five scores.

In 2019, Calzada took a redshirt before the 2020 season that didn’t count toward any player’s eligibility. In 2022, he transferred to Auburn, but didn’t see any action with the Tigers and later had shoulder surgery. After that, he transferred to Incarnate Word, where he spent two seasons. That means that 2025 will be his seventh season of college football.
