Pittsburgh Steelers make multiple roster moves, place one on injured reserve
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie DeMarvin Leal hasn’t played since Week 5 of the NFL season, but could be on track to return this weekend against the Falcons. On Saturday, the team announced that they had activated Leal off of the Reserve/Injured List and placed him back on the roster.
However, Leal’s departure from the List came with the somber news that a different Pittsburgh Steelers defender was heading onto it. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon was hurt recently and will apparently miss a chunk of time since PIT is opting to put him on the IR, which means Witherspoon will miss a minimum of four weeks. Frankly, wouldn’t be too surprised if his season is over.
Anyway, here was the official word on those roster moves, from the Steelers’ team Twitter account:
“We have activated DE DeMarvin Leal from the Reserve/Injured List to the active roster and placed CB Ahkello Witherspoon on the Reserve/Injured List.”
Good news on one end, bad on the other. Check out below for more injury updates from this week’s practices.
Pittsburgh Steelers release Thursday injury report vs. Atlanta Falcons
Najee Harris didn’t practice for the second day in a row while nursing an oblique injury he suffered when the Pittsburgh Steelers played against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football.
Harris left the game late in the second quarter and would not return. He had 10 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown before his exit, and cohort Benny Snell Jr. filled in nicely in Harris’ place, though Snell is also dealing with an ailment of his own.
