3-star athlete PJ Woodland announces top two schools
Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove three-star athlete PJ Woodland has narrowed down his list of top schools down to two. Those two programs are LSU and Mississippi State.
Woodland is the No. 458 overall prospect and No. 20 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 15 player in Mississippi.
LSU extended an offer to Woodland in May. The offer came a little under a month after he was on campus for the Tigers spring game.
“It’s just great, everywhere you walk around it’s Purple and Gold everywhere,” Woodland told The Bengal Tiger’s Bill Embody on May 20. “To play for a team who takes that much pride in themselves is great. Just the atmosphere and the hospitality was great. The entire staff was great as well. The LSU visit was great, really enjoyed myself.”
Despite the recent visits to LSU, Mississippi State still holds a commanding lead in his recruitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). The Bulldogs sits with a 94.2% chance to land his pledge.

“They really talk to me a lot,” Woodland told Sam Spiegelman in April regarding the Bulldogs. “They talk to me every day, literally every day, and if it’s not in the morning it’s at night. It’s constant with them.”
“Not a day goes by that McBath doesn’t text me or call me. We talk literally every single day. I like that because I’m a family guy. Him reaching out to me shows he sees something in me that I don’t see in myself, and I appreciate that.”
Peyton Woodland currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $30K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
