In college basketball, anything can happen on a given day. The craziness and the chaos knows no limits. That’s part of the beauty of college sports. On Saturday afternoon, the Portland State Vikings delivered a miraculous buzzer beater for the ages. Trailing the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks 87-86 with 0.4 seconds left, the Vikings needed nothing short of a miracle.

They had to find a way to go full court and somehow get a shot off, in less than half a second. Portland State’s Hunter Woods hurled a prayer of a baseball pass down the floor, where it was miraculously caught by Isaiah Johnson, and immediately tossed towards the hoop in one motion.

The shot banked in and went through the net at the buzzer, lifting the Vikings to one of the most incredible wins in college basketball history, 88-87.

Check it out for yourself below.

There’s no question that the play will go down as one of the greatest buzzer beaters in college basketball history. There are few buzzer beaters that have ever been as improbable as that one. Simply put, the odds of hitting that pass, full court, at that angle, are insanely low.

Then when you add in the fact that Johnson was able to catch the ball over his head and get a decent shot off in one motion. It just becomes one of the most mind-blowing game-winners in college basketball history.

Portland State had three players score in double figures in the miraculous win. Another crazy part of the buzzer beater was that Northern Arizona drilled a three-pointer in the closing seconds to put them up 87-86 at the buzzer, but officials reviewed the play, and decided to put 0.4 seconds back on the clock.

The miraculous pass will undoubtedly go as one of the greatest plays in Portland State basketball history, and it should.
