The 2024-25 college basketball season is just around the corner and the picks for the Coaches Preseason All-SEC teams are in.

Alabama guard Mark Sears leads the way as the preseason Player of the Year, one year after averaging 21.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He’s not the only player on the list that can light it up, though.

Florida‘s Walter Clayton Jr. (17.6 points per game), Texas A&M‘s Wade Taylor IV (19.1 points per game), Tennessee‘s Zakai Zeigler (11.8 points, 6.1 assists per game) and Auburn‘s Johni Broome (16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds per game) rounded out the first-team selections.

Entering the season, KenPom.com has the SEC rated as the No. 1 conference in the nation. Twelve SEC teams are ranked in KenPom.com’s Top 50 and all 16 rank in the Top 100. The Associated Press Preseason Top 25 featured a nation-leading nine teams ranked: Alabama 2nd, Auburn 11th, Tennessee 12th, Texas A&M 13th, Arkansas 16th, Texas 19th, Florida 21st, Kentucky 23rd, and Ole Miss 24th.
