Saturday was one of the wildest and wackiest days in college football history. There were fights all over the place, literally all across the country. And it was only fitting that tempers flared once again in Houston-BYU, one of the final games of the night on Saturday evening. Once BYU scored a touchdown to go up 30-18 with 2:52 remaining in the game, a scuffle ensued in the end zone.

Multiple players were ejected after the fight for throwing punches, including BYU wide receiver Darius Lassiter and Houston defensive back AJ Haulcy. The melee happened after BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff scored his second touchdown run of the night. BYU allowed Houston to comeback in the second half, but finished the game off with a 30-18 win. They finish their regular season with a 10-2 overall record, with seven of those wins coming in Big 12 play.

The fight started after a BYU player tried to pick a Houston player up off Retzlaff as he was on the ground in the end zone. That’s what sparked things and then it spilled into the back of the end zone, where the chaos ensued. But eventually things were calmed down and the game was finished.

Houston quarterback Zeon Chriss finished with 15 carries and two touchdowns. He also completed 16 of his 24 passes for 156 passing yards, while tossing in an interception. With the loss, Houston dropped to 4-8 overall and 3-6 in the Big 12 Conference. Their 2024 season is officially done.
