Purdue transfer CB Tarrion Grant commits to Texas Tech
Former Purdue cornerback Tarrion Grant has committed to Texas Tech out of the transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Grant will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.
Grant was a Top 100 prospect in the 2024 signing class, and was originally a 2025 prospect until re-classifying late. He spent one season with the Boilermakers.
Grant appeared in 13 games this past season for the Boilermakers, totaling 13 tackles. He also recorded two passes defended and a forced fumble during his freshman campaign
Grant played high school football at Murfeesboro (Tenn.) Siegel, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 91 overall player and top recruit in the state from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was a five-star prospect, according to On3, before re-classifying.
Texas Tech landed a transfer quarterback recently
Former Wake Forest quarterback Mitch Griffis is returning to college football and will play at Texas Tech in 2025, he announced on Tuesday.
Griffis last played college football in 2023 when he threw for 1,553 yards and 9 touchdowns, with 7 interceptions for the Demon Deacons. He entered the transfer portal after the 2023 season and committed to play at Marshall. However, he ended up stepping away from football.
Now Griffis is returning to football and will play for Texas Tech next season. He made the announcement on Twitter.

Griffis signed with Wake Forest as a three-star recruit in the class of 2020, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He appeared in four games in both 2020 and 2021.
During the 2022 season, Griffis appeared in six games and made the first start of his career. He was 29 of 41 passing for 348 yard and 5 touchdowns, with 1 interception that season as he saw his first real playing time.
In 2023, Griffis started nine games for Wake Forest and had a solid year before entering the transfer portal. He will now look to compete for the starting quarterback job at Texas Tech.
