Quincy Shootout: Elliot Cadeau headlines the Friday night standouts
Quincy, Illinois – The 5th Annual Quincy Shootout took place at Quincy High this weekend, and the field of talent was pretty deep. Friday night featured a marquee matchup between Branson (MO) Link Academy and Pleasant Grove (UT) Wasatch Academy.
The game was played in front of a nearly sold-out crowd, and there was a vibrant buzz throughout the gym. Five-star shooting guard Jakobe Walter led the way for Link. The Baylor signee finished with 14 points. Tennessee signees Cade Phillips (11) and Cameron Carr (10) also finished in double figures for Link Academy, along with five-star UNC signee Elliot Cadeau’s 13.
Here were the standouts for Friday night at the Quincy Shootout.
Four-star PF Morez Johnson (Illinois)
Morez Johnson was one of the first players in the 2024 class to commit. The 6-foot-9 power forward from Chicago (IL) Saint Rita’s was excellent in the second half of the nightcap. Modesto (CA) Christian simply had no answer for him. Throughout the final 16 minutes, Saint Rita’s fed Johnson a steady diet of paint touches, and the four-star displayed touch and an array of post moves to finish.
Johnson finished with 19 points in the win. He is currently the No. 55 player in the 2024 On3 150. A good showing here.
Five-star PG Elliot Cadeau (UNC)
Elliot Cadeau led his Branson (MO) Link Academy team to victory over nationally ranked Pleasant Grove (UT) Wasatch Academy and then stuck around for thirty-plus minutes to sign autographs and take pictures.
Cadeau is a jet-fast point guard with quick feet and hands. He touches the paint on offense and pressures the ball on defense. He also did not turn the ball over here. The 2024 On3 Consensus No. 11 player committed to UNC over a group that included Texas Tech, Syracuse, Kansas, Louisville, and others.
Cadeau finished this one with 13 points.
Three-star F Jadyn Toppin (New Mexico)
Jadyn Toppin simply finds a way to produce. Just like the last live viewing we had of Toppin at the Tarkanian Classic, the New Mexico signee was all over the place in this one. He is a good offensive rebounder and is instinctive in the passing lanes. Toppin looked to get to that right shoulder on the block, and a lot of the touches he had allowed him to get to the left hand.

Standing 6-foot-8 with a 6-foot-11 wing span, Toppin finished this one with 24 points. Twenty-two of those points came in the second half as Oak Cliff (TX) Faith Family held on to a two-point win.
Game Notes
**Iowa State commitment Nojus Indrusaitis made shots, and it’s as simple as that. He finished with 26 points in tonight’s come from behind victory.
**Scholarship coaches should be paying attention to 6-foot-6 unsigned senior Chikasi Ofomo of Chicago (IL) Curie High. He finished with 29 points in this one, but it was the overall relentless nature of his productivity that shined.
**2024 four-star Jeremiah Johnson continues to have a good year. The lengthy 6-foot-3 guard from Pleasant Grove (UT) Wasatch Academy finished with a team-high 15 points here. His jump shot was confident and smooth.
