Quinn Ewers, Dr Pepper land hilarious Arch Manning joke in new Fansville commercial
Texas star Quinn Ewers was the star of the latest Fansville Dr Pepper commercial ahead of the 2024 college football season — and made sure to poke fun at his “backup” Arch Manning throughout.
Ewers, who is presented as ‘Deputy Quinn Ewers’ in the commercial. His partner asks Ewers to call for backup, to which Ewers said he doesn’t need any.
“I’m sorry, did you say you wanted Dr Pepper?” Ewers asked. He pulled a Dr Pepper can out from his holster.
“I asked for backup,” his partner replied.
“We don’t need any backup, even if he has great hair and famous relatives,” Ewers said.

Arch Manning, who has a solid head of hair, certainly has a few famous relatives as the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning. A refreshing joke, many quarterbacks in America would rather talk about themselves than acknowledge their backup — especially when some fans have called for Manning to start over Ewers in the past, or at least lobbied for him to see more in-game action.
Ewers has remained the starter, however, and Manning has been patiently waiting for his time to come.

As a second-year starter for Texas in 2023, Ewers did what no other Longhorns quarterback could before him — send his team to the College Football Playoff as Texas went 12-2 to finish the year. It was the Longhorns’ success a year ago set the stage for massive expectations in 2024 heading into their first season in the SEC.
Of course, Manning has long figured to be the successor to Ewers’ spot. Manning showcased flashes of what he was capable of during the Longhorns’ spring game but only recorded stats in one game as a true freshman. He went 2 of 5 passing for 30 yards against Texas Tech in a blowout late in the season.
Meanwhile, Ewers was one of the top quarterbacks in the country last season, throwing for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while ranking No. 17 nationally in QBR (78.3). He threw for 300 yards or more on six occasions, including a 452-yard, four-touchdown performance against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship game.
Heading into 2024, Ewers and Manning will lead the Longhorns into the SEC as they begin their venture into the Southeastern Conference. Before they get there, they must tackle a non-conference schedule that includes a road trip to Michigan in Week 2.
