Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins underwent a hand procedure this week, multiple sources tell On3. The former Ole Miss transfer is not expected to miss any playing time with the Buckeyes on their bye week.

Judkins’ hand was wrapped up before the Oregon game, where he rushed for a season-low 23 yards on 11 carries. The running back fumbled the ball in the first quarter as Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon ripped the ball out of his hands.

He practiced with a brace on Thursday, a source told On3. Judkins was dealing with the hand issue before the road trip to Oregon last weekend. His fumble against the Ducks was only the fourth of his career.

Viewed as one of the top running backs in college football, Judkins has rushed for 491 yards on 71 carries and six touchdowns this season. Averaging 6.9 yards per carry, he and TreVeyon Henderson make up one of the top backfields in the nation. The duo has rushed for 915 total yards this season.

Quinshon Judkins finished the 2023 season by breaking the 1,000-yard mark for the second time in his college career. The running back racked up 1,158 yards and 16 touchdowns on 271 carries last year. The 2022 Freshman All-America selection is the first player since Herschel Walker to score more than 15 total touchdowns in his first two collegiate seasons.

“He is exactly what you just said. He runs really hard, violent,” Ohio State head coach Ryan Day recently said. “He wants the ball, and so does TreVeyon. But they’ve been great, and we’re gonna need them this week — take care of the football and run downhill.”

Ohio State is 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes host Nebraska next weekend in Columbus.
