Quinshon Judkins was elated to have Gus Johnson on the call for Ohio State’s Week 4 clash with Marshall, but Ole Miss fans might want to cover their ears.

During the broadcast, Johnson shared a conversation he had with the former Rebels running back ahead of Saturday’s game. While it might not have been a direct shot at Ole Miss and more of a broadcasting-rights issue, fans in Oxford will have a tough time believing Judkins intentions.

“Quinshon Judkins approached Gus Johnson yesterday to say, ‘Where I played before, I never had a chance to have a guy like you, Gus Johnson, call my games.’ Johnson said it brought him to tears,” Stefan Krajisnik of Cleveland.com posted on X.

Of course, Johnson doesn’t call SEC games due to him being the voice of FOX’s college football coverage, and Judkins had many other legendary commentators call his games while with the Rebels, but it’s evident there’s a different feeling for the running back with Johnson on the call.

In the first half against the Thundering Herd, Judkins rushed for 114 yards on four attempts, including an 86-yard touchdown. Johnson got to call all of the action, and perhaps it motivated the running back to show out in Columbus on Saturday afternoon.

Alas, Ole Miss fans might be tired of the passive-aggressive shots from Judkins. After the Buckeyes opened the year with a 52-6 victory over Akron, Judkins said he didn’t realize just how many fans would be there. He saw a stark difference from what he saw during his time at Ole Miss.

“A one-of-a-kind experience. Definitely a one-of-a-kind experience,” Judkins said. “Super excited. Definitely more fans than I expected, so it’s super fun. Over 100,000 (fans). Being at Ole Miss, I only got to see that at away games.”

While he might be happier with the Buckeyes, Judkins had immense success with the Rebels, and his back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons at Ole Miss before entering the transfer portal and committing to Ohio State are evidence of that.

Many Ohio State fans believe he might be the last piece on a team that can win a national title in 2024. Ironically enough, Ole Miss has those same goals. Perhaps the two teams will meet if they both make it to the dance, and then Rebels fans can let Quinshon Judkins hear it if it comes to that.
