Arizona State running back Raleek Brown will miss ASU’s game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. He’s been dealing with a hamstring injury. Sun Devils’ running back DeCarlos Brooks “should return” after missing the Texas State game.

Brown arrives in Tempe from USC, where he spent two years in the Trojans’ backfield. He appeared in 14 games as a freshman in 2022, but injuries held him to just three games in 2023 as he took a redshirt.

Brown took 42 carries for 227 yards and three touchdowns in 2022 before totaling just 16 yards in 2023. He is expected to have a big role in the Arizona State backfield as Kenny Dillingham settles in for his second year as head coach. After missing the first two games of the season, Raleek Brown returned to practice, but now has been hobbled by injuries again.

Prior to enrolling with the USC Trojans in his first stop, Raleek Brown was a four-star prospect and the No. 69 overall player in the nation in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 8 wide receiver in his class and the No. 5 overall player in the state of California, hailing from Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei.

The Sun Devils have started off 3-0 this year and they’ve done most of their damage without Brown in the lineup. ASU star running back Cam Skattebo has been his usual dominant self in the first three games, racking up 373 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just 68 carries. As a receiver, he’s hauled in seven catches for 73 yards. He ripped off nearly 300 all-purpose yards against Mississippi State in the 30-23 win on Sept. 7.

Skatteboo is one of the best all-purpose backs in the Big 12 Conference and he’s been playing like it early. Last year for ASU, he racked up over 1,000 all-purpose yards and 10 total touchdowns.

ASU will face a Texas Tech offensive attack that has been highly explosive in two of their three games this year. The Red Raiders put up 52 points against Abilene Christian and 66 points against North Texas. It should be an exciting Big 12 matchup.
