On3’s Joe Tipton announced on Monday 2023 On3 Consensus No. 28 KJ Lewis will be committing at 8:30 PM on Wednesday. The El Paso (TX) Chapin High wing lists his top eight schools as Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Memphis, Texas Tech, and UCLA.

Let’s take a look at how On3 ranks KJ Lewis’ contenders.

1. Arizona

Lewis has spoken openly about Arizona being his dream school since he was a kid. Tommy Lloyd has employed a fast style of play for the Wildcats, ranking 14th in D-I for possessions per game and third in points per game. Lewis spoke about the style and the fans after taking one of his three official visits to Arizona.

Arizona Chances: 65-percent

2. Texas Tech

The new coaching staff at Texas Tech has taken the region by storm. It also seems that Mark Adams is not just the flavor of the week and will have staying power. Texas basketball is a hotbed right now, and Texas Tech is making its waves in recruiting. Adams’ defense is 13th in D-I points against and sixth in defensive efficiency. Lewis speaks highly of the atmosphere, their fan base has been well documented, and the coaches’ relationship with him.

Texas Tech Chances: 25-percent

3. Memphis

You can never count Memphis out of a recruiting battle, especially when a player takes an official visit. There are other things in play here where I think Memphis is third on this list, but their recruiting prowess puts them on the list.

Memphis Chances: 10-percent

KJ Lewis Final Thoughts

Just last week ago, Arizona landed five-star 2023 point guard Kylan Boswell. A little over a week later, Tommy Lloyd and staff strike again with the four-star. Lewis’s love for the program, ‘dream school,’ coupled with the style of play Lloyd has installed make Arizona just too much in this recruitment.
