Rankings: What 2022 prospects could be in line for jumps?
Everyone loves rankings week. For On3, rankings week is right around the corner, next week to be exact. On3 will be updating our 2022 list to 150. With that, there will be some shuffling of players, new additions, drops, and bumps. Let’s look at five players; already in the On3 Consensus, I will be advocating to push higher.
**the On3 Consensus is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services.
SF Dillon Mitchell Texas signee
Mitchell has steadily climbed in each ranking update over the last 12 to 18 months. However, it has been the previous five months where he has taken off. The 6-foot-8 forward is in the conversation as the best defender in the class; he is also possibly the most functionally explosive athlete. Kendall Brown’s success at Baylor shows an archetype, and the Texas signee has had some monster performances in his team’s biggest games. The Montverde (FL) Academy senior is currently No. 12 in the On3 Consensus.
SG Daniel Skillings Cincinnati signee
A year ago, Skillings was off the radar and out of the rankings entirely. Now he is the No. 69 player in the On3 Consensus. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard is a crafty scorer with positional size. A Cincinnati signee, his feel for the game stands out, and he plays with a lot of confidence. Don’t be surprised if the Philadelphia (PA) Roman Catholic shooting guard continues his rise in next week’s update.
SF Tre White Southern Cal signee
White had a good summer with Strive for Greatness on Nike’s EYBL circuit. He showed playmaking ability out of the pick and roll. A transfer to Napa (Calif) Prolific Prep for his senior season showed he could consistently be an alpha against the nation’s top competition. The 6-foot-6 wing is a strong and explosive physical presence. He attacks the rim confidently and can create offense. The Southern Cal signee currently sits at No. 47 in the On3 Consensus.

C Donovan Clingan Connecticut Signee
Donovan Clingan may be the biggest in a class that lacks a depth of quality bigs across the country. The 7-foot-1 center has excellent hands, natural timing, and is a good area rebounder. His sheer size gets him production, but so does his skill set and toughness. There will be questions about his foot speed, but his timing and understanding of angles should make up for some of that. The UConn signee is currently ranked No. 50 in the On3 Consensus.
SF Tyrell Ward Xavier Signee
Ward is another player who has taken an enormous jump over the last year. The 6-foot-5 wing has always been an aggressive downhill offensive weapon, but his shot creation has taken a big step. The Hyattsville (MD) Dematha Catholic senior is lengthy and explosive and has developed an alpha mentality on the floor. Currently, the Xavier signee is the No. 42 player in the On3 Consensus.
