Rece Davis is as frustrated as anyone about the faking of injuries this fall, especially with it being so straightforward to fix.

Davis went off on the topic again during the ‘College GameDay Podcast’ on Monday. He said it’s not as complicated as everyone is making it as college football collectively just needs to stop doing it altogether.

“I do want to belabor this point because I sort of went off on this and I want to echo it on the podcast about this whole fake injury thing that everybody’s trying to make the hodge conjecture, which, if you also watch GameDay, is an unsolvable or yet to be solved math problem. This is not a problem. It’s a problem but it’s not complicated,” said Davis. “Stop doing it. Just stop.

“I mean, coaches, all the time, we hear it all the time – molder of young men, accountability, discipline, do the right thing all the time. All these things are very good values and things that should be adhered to – by the coaches too!” Davis said. “You don’t want these fake injuries? Stop doing it. Stop doing it.”

With viewers wondering why officials don’t do something about it in real-time either, Davis thinks it could be the only way to make this matter worse if they were to misread or mishandle an actual situation. That’s especially so considering his opinion on the one job that they have to do already.

“Everybody wants the officials to do something. Look, man, I’m not convinced these cats can figure out targeting. They can’t figure out how many men are on the field sometimes. They sure can’t figure out pass interference,” said Davis. “Now I’m going to make them a trainer? Now I’m going to make them a medical professional?

“I understand guys sometimes are taking flops. That’s for sure. I know what it looks like. How about the one time when the guy cramps up? Heaven forbid, how about the one time a guy has a seizure? How about the one time that the guy that you think took a flop has asthma and he has some type of attack and needs his medication?” Davis added. “You’re going to put that in the hands of the officials?”

With that, Davis’ solution is a simple one. He called on all coaches to take it out of their game plan completely as e knows that’s where the problem is coming from.

“I got a better idea. Coaches – you’re the ones preaching accountability. Stop doing it. Stop it already, you know. You can stop it,” said Davis. “Saban said it on the show on Saturday. There’s not a player in the country who has taken a flop to stop the clock, preserve time or let his team get a rest without being instructed to – wink, nod, whatever – by the coaching staff.

“Stop doing it! It’s as simple as that,” Davis continued. “Stop! Just don’t do it anymore and the problem is solved.”

Injuries that seem faked have been very notable in several games this season. That’s why Davis wants to see it out of their sport as soon as possible – which means leaving it to the coaches to be accountable for it.

“Other than that, I have no opinion on this subject,” Davis closed.
