College GameDay host Rece Davis expects the Iowa Hawkeyes to beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Black Friday.

The rivalry game between Iowa and Nebraska is one of the most anticipated Big Ten West games of the season and there is plenty on the line for each team. Nebraska needs a win to get bowl eligible this season while Iowa is looking to build momentum going into the Big Ten Championship Game.

Here’s the latest on the Iowa-Nebraska game, where Nebraska is a 2.5-point favorite with an over/under set at 25.5 points, as well as Rece Davis’ take on what’s going to happen in Lincoln.

One of the big things that is catching people’s attention when it comes to this game is the point total. It’s one of the lowest a college game has ever seen, and seems to be getting lower. However, Davis also noticed that the team going to the Big Ten Championship Game is an underdog.

“Can I take two things? Can I take the under and Iowa?” Rece Davis smiled.

“I mean, I had to look at that twice. I’ll just take Iowa. I have a lot of respect, we’ve made a lot of fun of them and there’s a part of me that Pete [Thamel] accuses me of having this Southern sensibility that makes me feel bad if start picking on someone too much. We’ve picked on them so much I sort of felt badly.”

Iowa has been highly criticized for its offense this season. Offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz, son of head coach Kirk Ferentz, has already been told he won’t be retained going into the offseason. Still, the Hawkeyes have found ways to win while only averaging 18.5 points per game.

“I mean, I’ve got a great level of admiration that they keep finding ways to win. That’s the object of the game. Now, is there a ceiling on that so that you are, not that I would bet this way, but I would bet everything I own that they can’t beat Michigan or Ohio State because of the ceiling, but it is still — they’re winning double-digit games basically by playing half of the game, playing defense, playing like it’s 1922, and special teams. Sometimes, when they get bad calls, they’d be even better.”

“I’m taking Iowa and the points,” Davis said. “I think they win again, go on to the Big Ten Championship Game where they’ll get beat, go to a nice bowl, and once again they find a way to have a successful season and I know it can be frustrating to Iowa fans at times, but the object is to win the game, and they do that a whole lot.”
