No. 10 Louisville will play their final conference game of the season this weekend in Coral Gables against Miami. Now, Rece Davis has provided his pick for the matchup between the Top-10 Cardinals and the hosting Hurricanes.

Davis made his selection during the ‘College GameDay Podcast’ on Thursday. He started with Louisville, who currently sits at 9-1, and gave them their credit for being a team that’s in position to make it to Charlotte but admitted that they aren’t a team that’s above a potential letdown.

“I think Louisville is going to go to the ACC Championship. I like this team a lot,” said Davis. “But, you know, they have flirted with disaster a couple of times. They were very fortunate to escape the Virginia game the other night.”

“They’ve got big-time playmakers, they probably turn the ball over a little bit more than you’d like. But they’ve got some disruptive guys on defense,” Davis said.

One way or another, nine wins in ten games is nine wins in ten games. It has been impressive at times too with double-digit victories over Notre Dame and Duke. Still, Louisville has had some close calls in order to get there, like their last outing against the Cavaliers, and could be in a similar spot if they add to their turnover total of a dozen.

He then looked to Miami, a team who’s season has unraveled over the past month with four losses in their last six. Still, if nothing else, they’ve continued to compete during that stretch, including their loss in Tallahassee to No. 4 Florida State that Davis noted.

“I thought Miami played really hard against Florida State on Saturday. Just didn’t have quite enough to win in that environment,” said Davis.

With a one-point spread in favor of Louisville, this game inside Hard Rock Stadium essentially comes down to a pick’em. That’s why, coming off their latest performance against the Seminoles, Davis believes in the ‘Canes to get the job done at home.

That means Davis has Louisville officially clinching a conference title berth in a different way than a win on Saturday.

“Basically, you’re picking the winner here,” Davis explained. “I think Louisville is good – not anti-Louisville at all. I’m really looking forward to have Jeff Brohm on the show on Saturday. But I’m going to go Miami.”

I think Miami wins the game,” said Davis. “Louisville will still wind up in the ACC Championship and will give the Seminoles a challenge once they get there.”
