Rece Davis isn’t worried for the Ducks. On Thursday, the ESPN analyst divulged his pick in the OregonWashington State matchup. According to FanDuel, Oregon is a 19.5-point favorite in the showdown.

“I also call for the blowout and I also will take the Ducks,” Davis said. “I walked out of [the Oregon-Washington game] thinking I saw two teams that were not only playoff worthy, but two teams that could win the national championship. They play a little bit differently, but they’re both really good.”

Oregon’s will have no shortage of frustration from its 36-33 loss to Washington last week. After turning the ball over on Washington’s 45-yard line, Oregon allowed the Huskies to score in two plays. With under two minutes remaining, the Ducks were unable to counter.

The loss was all too familiar for Oregon. Head coach Dan Lanning and his Ducks fell to Washington 37-34 last year. The defeat undoubtedly ruffled the Ducks’ feathers. Now, Washington State will suffer the aftermath.

Washington State looks to avoid spiral

It doesn’t help the Cougars that they are coming off an abysmal 44-6 loss to Arizona.

“There are kinds of losses that tick you off and make you come back the next week ready to open up a can on somebody’s rear end. And, there are losses that shake you to your core,” Davis said. “Washington State have one that would shake you to your core and I think Oregon had one that ticked him off.”

Washington State suffered an all-systems failure in the loss. The team recorded just 234 total yards while giving up 516 yards to the Wildcats. In the four-quarter contest, the Cougars only found 12 first downs while committing three turnovers.

The hideous performance did instill much faith in Davis.

“I think Oregon lays the wood and I’ve been a guy who thinks Washington State’s a pretty good team,” Davis said. “They’re catching them at [Oregon] time, not only for them with maybe the confidence shaken a little bit after Arizona crushed them the way they did, but they’re catching Oregon at a bad time too. I’ll lay the three touchdowns and go with the Ducks.”

Oregon has won the last four matchups between the two programs. However, Washington State gave them the Ducks a run for their money last season, narrowly falling 44-41. The two teams will face off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
