No. 5 Washington’s unblemished record will be on the line when they go to Corvallis on Saturday to play No. 11 Oregon State. That’s because, for the first time all season, the Huskies is currently a ‘dog against the spread versus the Beavers.

Rece Davis made his pick for the Top-15 matchup in the Pac-12 during the ‘College GameDay Podcast’ on Thursday. To him, this is the opportunity for Oregon State considering all the good mojo around them before they head inside Reser Stadium on Saturday.

“Everything is set up for Oregon State,” said Davis. “I mean even Vegas has them as a favorite. Washington is the first top-five team to be an underdog this year.”

Oregon State is the second best opponent of Washington’s season based on overall ranking. They’ll be challenging the Huskies with the third-best offense (37.9 ppg.) and defense (20.5 ppg.) that they’ve faced this season. It’ll be even more of a test as the toughest road trip for the Huskies this fall in a place where the Beavers are 17-1 over their last 18.

Still, as much as he likes Jonathan Smith’s squad, something smells fishy to Davis. There’s something off to him about an unbeaten conference leader in Washington not being the favorite, even if it is on the road against top-notch competition.

That’s why, in the end, Davis went with that thought process and chose with the Huskies. They may have struggled a bit over the past few weeks but, all in all, he expects to see them prove their worth again against Oregon State.

“I’ve loved this Oregon State team from the beginning of the season. It just seems too easy to pick them right now,” said Davis. “I believe Washington is real. I understand what you’re saying about some of their issues on defense. And it may be that they get bullied around and run on – which Oregon State is really good at doing. I think this is a terrific game between two excellent football teams.”

“I’m going to take Washington. I’m going to go ahead and bow down to Washington and say that they prove that they are real, remain undefeated,” Davis said. “Every little bit of logic, college football history, and the setup, everything? This just feels like one of those games that the undefeated team is going to lose. Yet, for some reason, I say that they don’t. I’m going to take Washington and the points.”
