Rece Davis reveals Lee Corso is in 'great spirits, great health'
Over the years, Lee Corso has become a fixture for college football fans, with his headgear game picks on College GameDay every Saturday.
Now 88 years old, Corso is still appearing on TV and traveling with the crew of College GameDay. That included to a show in Chicago where the crew was recently invited. There, according to Rece Davis, Corso was in great health and still going strong.
“Fun, quick trip to Chicago,” Rece Davis said. “Good to see LC. He was rolling and in great spirits and great health. We had a really, really good time. Desmond [Howard] as well, and of course, Ken [Jeong] is a friend of the program.”
Rece Davis also joked that the trip became an impromptu audition to join College GameDay for Ken Jeong. He has previously served as a guest picker and now became a comedic analyst on the panel for the show that the crew put on in Chicago.
Admittedly, it was an R-rated show, unique from the typical family-friendly product that College GameDay puts on for football fans. However, Davis says it was a phenomenal time. In particular, he laughed about Ken Jeong continuing to create lore that Lee Corso is his father and calling him “Daddy,” throughout the night.

A Duke graduate, Jeong was the guest picker for the Blue Devil’s game against Notre Dame that College GameDay was broadcasting from. There, he was frustrated that Corso picked against his school.
Lee Corso has been working on the crew for College GameDay since 1987 and over the years became one of the iconic figures in the sport for college football fans. It was in 1993 that the program began traveling around the country from location to location. Then, in 1996, he began his tradition of wearing the mascot headgear for his picks of the week.
Prior to becoming an analyst for ESPN, Lee Corso was a coach, with stops as the head man at Louisville, Indiana, and Northern Illinois. He was also an assistant at Navy and Maryland once his playing career at Florida State came to an end.
This year, Rece Davis, Lee Corso, and the rest of the College GameDay crew will be in Dublin for Week 0 when Georgia Tech and Florida State kick the season off. After that, they’ll be in College Station for Week 1 of the 2024 season. That game, between Notre Dame and Texas A&M, looks to be one of the marquee matchups of the year and will set the tone for what should be an incredibly exciting season on the field.
