Recruits React to Texas A&M's hard-fought loss to Alabama
Texas A&M fought hard and came up one play from upsetting top-ranked Alabama in a tight 24-20 loss. Though the Aggies lost, recruits across the country took notice of the fight Jimbo Fisher and his team displayed, and a number of targets on the defensive side of the ball specifically were impressed with the performance from DJ Durkin’s unit.
The Aggies’ defense held Alabama to just 111 passing yards and came up with four turnovers and sacks on the night in what has been the most impressive performance from the unit against an FBS opponent this season.
Aggie Scoop caught up with commits and targets following the game on Saturday night and reactions continue to flow in.

2023 Texas A&M four-star offensive line commit Colton Thomasson
“I had been saying this whole week we were going to see the best out of the Aggies this week. We fought super hard in a very tough environment and almost pulled it out. Our defense went crazy and we were doing super good on offense we just came slightly short. Super excited to see how well we finish the season”
2023 Texas A&M three-star defensive tackle commit Samu Taumanupepe
“They played good but not great, my coach always tells me there’s only one room and that’s room for improvement. I hope they come out next game with a chip on there shoulder because they’re not done yet!”
2024 Texas A&M four-star defensive line commit Dealyn Evans
“Defense played great, was flying around everywhere and i think overall we played tough, but just couldn’t get the job done”

2024 Katy (Tex.) Seven Lakes four-star linebacker Dakyus Brinkley
“As I was watching the game I saw that the Aggies had no [plan of] giving up and that they were gonna fight to the last second on the clock I really like what I saw out there defensively. Can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
2024 Timpson (Tex.) High four-star athlete Terry Bussey
“It was a good game!! They had some opportunities to win just gotta capitalize on them! And Evan Stewart is him fr!”
2024 Buford (Ga.) High four-star EDGE KingJoseph Edwards
“I actually thought they performed well. Had 3 turnovers one of them resulted in a score. Defense stopped them multiple times from moving the ball. I know it’s a loss but for a loss they performed very well!”
2024 Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy four-star linebacker Payton Pierce
“Yes, I watched the entire game. A&M was right there and one play away from winning it. I think defensively they gave their self a chance to win. I know they are trying to find themselves offensively still. My feeling is they are really close to taking off but just haven’t quite found the answer yet. Going to Bama and almost beating them is a good sign that they are right there if they can just get over the hump.”
2024 St Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan
“They are competing with the best and they gave it all they got and I think they will make a run for the nati[ional championship]”
2025 Humble (Tex.) Atascocita four-star running back Tory Blaylock
“impressive!! I think they played good it was enjoyable to watch”
