Red River Showdown odds: Updated point spread for Texas-Oklahoma rivalry
One week before the Red River Showdown between Oklahoma and Texas, the point spread has changed. The Longhorns opened as a 5.5-point favorite last week.
Texas is now a 5.5-point favorite over Oklahoma in the game, according to FanDuel.
Both teams brought 4-0 records into their respective Week 5 matchups. Texas had an interesting test in its Big 12 opener, facing off against No. 24 Kansas. The Jayhawks didn’t have Jalon Daniels, who aggravated his back injury prior to kickoff but kept things close with the Longhorns in the early going. Heading into halftime, Texas had a 13-7 lead.
The Longhorns held a 20-14 advantage in the third quarter, but wound up pulling away en route to the 40-14 victory. Quinn Ewers had another impressive day as he tries to build his Heisman Trophy case, completing 25 of 35 passes for 325 yards and a touchdown in the effort while adding 40 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Jonathan Brooks also led the run game with an impressive 218 yards and two touchdowns as Texas totaled an incredible 661 yards of offense. It marked the second straight year a Longhorns running back ran for 200-plus yards after Bijan Robinson had 243 rushing yards and four touchdowns a season ago.

As for Oklahoma, the Sooners went up against Iowa State on the heels of a big 20-6 victory over Cincinnati last week.
Oklahoma dispatched the Cylcones to the tune of 50-20 to improve to 5-0 on the season. Dillon Gabriel passed for 355 yards and three touchdowns against Iowa State. Gabriel added 37 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground.
This year marks the last time Oklahoma and Texas will square off as Big 12 teams. The two teams are preparing to head to the SEC next season — one year earlier than originally planned. They’ll continue to square off under the league’s new schedule.
Kickoff between Oklahoma and Texas is set for Oct. 7 at noon ET on ABC.
