We’re halfway through the college football season, with the majority of teams having six games completed. In what’s been a chaotic slate on a weekly basis and just 15 programs remain with an undefeated record.

ESPN decided to rank the 15 remaining undefeated teams in college football, with seven different conferences being represented. Four come from the SEC, including three being in the top five. Two will face off against one another on Saturday, with Alabama traveling to Knoxville for the Third Saturday in October vs. Tennessee.

ESPN ranks remaining 15 undefeated teams in college football

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes
  2. Alabama Crimson Tide
  3. Georgia Bulldogs
  4. Michigan Wolverines
  5. Tennessee Volunteers
  6. Clemson Tigers
  7. Ole Miss Rebels
  8. Penn State Nittany Lions
  9. Oklahoma State Cowboys
  10. UCLA Bruins
  11. TCU Horned Frogs
  12. USC Trojans
  13. James Madison Dukes
  14. Syracuse Orange
  15. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

Two major matchups will shrink list on Saturday

As mentioned, the SEC matchup of the week will take place at Neyland Stadium. Tennessee has not fared well in the rivalry vs. Alabama — not having a win against Nick Saban. There have been some games with a ton of hype entering but the Crimson Tide have always seemingly pulled away with an easy win. This one feels a bit different, with the Vols having confidence thanks to head coach Josh Heupel.

The Big 12 will also have an undefeated matchup, with Oklahoma State and TCU facing off in Fort Worth. Mike Gundy was expected to have a conference-contending team this year but first-year head coach Sonny Dykes is a bit of a surprise. A victory would mark a second consecutive vs. an undefeated conference foe for the Horned Frogs.

Whoever is able to come out with a win will be in the driver’s seat to appear in the Big 12 championship game in Arlington.

Los Angeles taking center stage

Most of the news regarding USC and UCLA over the past few months has been regarding conference realignment and their move to the Big Ten. Now that the football is being played, both Los Angeles schools are undefeated through six games.

UCLA has been tested a couple of times already, defeating Washington and Utah over the past two weeks. Things are not getting any better on Saturday, with a trip up to the Pacific Northwest on deck vs. Oregon. Chip Kelly would be able to make a real statement on the national scale with a win.

As for USC, this weekend has been circled on the calendar for quite some time. Utah has been seen as the biggest threat in the Pac-12 South and the Trojans will travel to Salt Lake City on Saturday. Come out victorious and we could be looking at an undefeated battle vs. UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Nov. 19.
