LSU senior defensive analyst Eddie Hicks is being hired as the cornerbacks coach at Cincinnati, according to a report from Matt Zenitz. Hicks will work under Bearcats head coach Scott Satterfield at Cincinnati.

Hicks just wrapped up his second season at LSU. He has served as the lead defensive analyst for the Tigers since spring of 2023.

Prior to working on the defensive staff at LSU, Hicks was the cornerbacks coach at Jacksonville State. Hicks has also coached at Southern Miss, Charlotte, Austin Peay and Murray State.

Before getting into coaching, Hicks was a two-time All-Conference USA defensive back at Southern Miss.

During his two seasons at LSU, the Tigers went 10-3 in 2023 and are currently 8-4 this season. LSU is set to play Baylor in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl on Dec. 31 to close out the 2024 season. As for Cincinnati, the Bearcats came up one game short of qualifying for a bowl.

LSU QB, former Vanderbilt transfer AJ Swann plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

In addition to losing a defensive staffer on Friday, LSU also lost a quarterback to the transfer portal earlier this week.

LSU quarterback AJ Swann has signed the papers necessary to enter the NCAA Transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Swann, who transferred from Vanderbilt a year ago, is expected to remain with the Tigers through the Texas Bowl vs. Baylor on New Year’s Eve (3:30 pm ET, ESPN).

Swann saw limited opportunities this past season, appearing in just two games behind junior starter Garrett Nussmeier, who has already announced his intentions to return for the 2025 season. Swann completed just 2-of-4 passes for 10 yards in 2024.

Since he didn’t appear in four games this season, Swann should qualify for a redshirt and still have two years of collegiate eligibility remaining with his next program.

In 2023 at Vanderbilt, Swann threw for 1,457 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in six games. South Carolina also showed interest in Swann when he entered the portal a year ago.

Swann played high school football at Cherokee (Canton, Ga.) High, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 449 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
