Report: Indiana guard Myles Rice plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Indiana sophomore guard Myles Rice plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after one season with the program. The report came from Jeff Goodman of Field of 68.
Rice came to Bloomington last offseason after transferring from Washington State, where he averaged 14.8 points per game as one of the nation’s top freshmen and an All Pac-12 honoree. His lone season with the Hoosiers saw a drop in production as he played in a group that had six players scoring more than 8 points per game.
Rice’s scoring (10.9 PPG), assists (2.7) and steals (1.1) numbers dropped from his freshman year, but he did see a significant uptick in his outside shooting. After hitting just 27% of his attempts in year 1, he followed that up by hitting 34% in year two, knocking in 25 of his 72 attempts.
But the Hoosiers’ loaded roster that also featured Arizona transfer Oumar Ballo, standout sophomore Mackenzie Mgabko and talented forward Malik Reneau didn’t live up to its lofty expectations. And in February, head coach Mike Woodson was informed by the university that he wouldn’t be returning for his fifth season with the program.
Rice, a native of Tyrone (Ga.), will be one of the portal’s most sought-after combo guards with two more years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
