The Border War on the basketball court has been renewed between Kansas and Missouri over the past several years. Now, this upcoming season’s matchup between the two has a reported date and time.

Per a report by Jon Rothstein, the Jayhawks and Tigers will meet this year on December 8th. This meeting will once again be at one of the home sites with this edition taking place back in Columbia.

These two rivals used to play every season as members of the Big 12. In total, they have met 270 times since 1907 with it as the 10th-most played series in college basketball. KU holds the edge over Mizzou in those games with a record of 175-95 all-time.

The series went away for a time with Mizzou’s move to the SEC in 2012. However, the two programs agreed on a renewal that began again in 2021.

Since then, Kansas and Missouri have met three times with each of the trio being Jayhawk victories. KU won 102-65 in their first game back together on December 11, 2021 inside Allen Fieldhouse en route to eventually winning the national title that year. They then returned to earned 95-67 win on the road in ’22-’23 before it came back to Lawrence this past season and they won the closest margin of the three with a final score of 73-64. Still, the average margin of victory for these wins still comes out to 24.7 points in favor of Rock Chalk.

This renewal series should have started a year earlier. However, the pandemic removed it from the schedule in ’20-’21. That original slate had that game being played at the Sprint Center, which is now T-Mobile Arena, in Kansas City. The past three and upcoming fourth have gone on as planned as far as location with the game in 2025-2026 supposed to close it out back in KC.

Kansas has won nine of their last 10 meetings with Missouri going back to March 1st, 2009. They’ve also won 14 of the last 16 when you go back to February 18th, 2006.

While this series historically favors Kansas, these past three truly have here in the 2020s. That leaves them with a chance to get another win this year while Missouri attempts to get on the board this season in CoMo.

Hunter Dickinson needles Kansas State, calls KU the ‘real college in Kansas’

Hunter Dickinson has never been the shy type during his time in college hoops, including on social media. With that, he managed to needle Kansas’ in-state rival in Kansas State while trying to recruit one of their top transfer targets all in one blow.

Former Illinois F Coleman Hawkins took a visit to Kansas State on June 8th as the top uncommitted player in the portal after withdrawing from the 2024 NBA Draft. His post noting he was in Manhattan, Kansas, though, was also an opportunity for Dickinson, who shared it with an additional message.

“You’re only about an hour 30 away from the real college in Kansas,” Dickinson said.

Since then, Hawkins eventually committed to K-State a few days later on June 14th.
