According to Eli Hoff of the St. Louis Dispatch, Missouri wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. He did not appear for a court case dating back to a ticket received in May for not wearing his seatbelt. Wease was then released on bond for $10 from Boone County Jail.

#Mizzou WR Theo Wease Jr. was arrested at 12:57 p.m. yesterday for failure to appear in court and released on $10 bond, according to Boone County jail records,” Hoff said via X. “He was cited in May in Lexington, Missouri, for not wearing a seatbelt.”

Hoff added Wease was not the one charged for what originally caused the traffic stop in Lexington, MO, described as “rural.”

Wease is entering his sixth season of college football, originally being a member of the 2019 recruiting class. Oklahoma was where the former five-star wide receiver prospect committed out of Allen (TX) High School, playing under Lincoln Riley. He even stayed with the Sooners through the coaching change, playing the 2022 season in Norman.

But after one season in Brent Venables‘ program, Wease decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Missouri was his destination where big numbers were put up in 2023. Wease caught 49 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns, all career highs.

Wease is expected to have a similar impact for the Tigers this season despite the arrest. Luther Burden III will continue to be the offensive star but Wease is as good of a WR2 you will find out there.

Paul Finebaum has high expectations for Missouri, Eli Drinkwitz

The Missouri Tigers are coming off their first 11-win season since 2014. With that, entering the fifth season under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, there are lofty expectations around the program.

One person who shares those high expectations for Missouri is Paul Finebaum. As he explained on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning, Finebaum is particularly excited to see what the Tigers can do against a weak schedule.

“They’re extremely high, for many reasons, but mainly the schedule,” Paul Finebaum said. “The schedule is everything. Listen, you put 16 schools in a hat and you don’t know what you’re gonna get. You know everybody is gonna get Texas or Oklahoma but after that, you don’t know. Missouri got Alabama but, okay, that’s probably the toughest game they have, being on the road.”
