Texas tight end Amari Niblack has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. Pete Nakos confirmed the news after reports surfaced about Niblack’s plans to enter.

Niblack appeared in nine games for Texas in 2024, catching five passes for 33 yards. He joined the Longhorns program after starting his career at Alabama.

While he played only sparingly this season, Niblack did make some big plays during his time at Alabama. He joined the Crimson Tide program after being ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 3 tight end in the country in the class of 2022, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

During his two seasons at Alabama, Niblack appeared in 24 games and made five starts. He was a solid receiving option for Alabama in 2023, catching 20 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns.

The hope for Niblack was that he would be a big part of the Texas offense this past season but that ended up not happening. Now he is entering the transfer portal once again, looking for a place where he can be a big-time contributor.

Texas DE Trey Moore returning to Longhorns in 2025

While Amari Niblack is leaving the Texas program, the Longhorns did receive some good news earlier this week.

Texas DE Trey Moore will be back on The 40 Acres next fall. Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Moore will return to college with the Longhorns next season rather than entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

This comes after it was noted today that Moore was not among the list of underclassmen who had declared to the draft to this point. That list included names for Texas who had already made their announcements like QB Quinn EwersOTs Kelvin Banks and Cameron WilliamsRB Jaydon Blue, and WRs Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond.

Moore just finished his first season at Texas after transferring in from UTSA.

In total, Moore has posted 138 tackles, 27.5 sacks, nine deflections, six forced fumbles, and an interception in his collegiate career at defensive end. That includes 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a deflection as a junior this season for the Longhorns. That had him second overall in fumbles forced, fourth in sacks, and top-fifteen in tackles on their defense.

Moore was a key pickup over last offseason for Texas. Now, rather than being the latest from the Longhorns to go pro, he’ll be back there for a senior season in Austin.
