Tulane transfer QB Darian Mensah schedules visit to Duke, receiving other interest in ACC, SEC
Transfer QB Darian Mensah has reportedly set up his first visit since entering the transfer portal.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel first, Mensah will be taking a visit to Duke with him in to see the Blue Devils today. With that, On3’s Pete Nakos is also reporting interest in him from other programs both in the ACC as well as in the SEC.
“On top of the Duke visit today, Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah is also picking up other ACC and SEC interest, his agents @noah_reisenfeld + @AeneasHawkins tell @On3sports,” Nakos tweeted this morning.
Nakos, along with Steve Wiltfong, noted one other team in the Atlantic Coast Conference yesterday that could be in on recruiting Mensah.
This comes the morning after Maalik Murphy, the Blue Devils’ QB1 this fall, also was reported to be planning to enter the portal per Thamel. That was after he completed 60.3% of his throws for 2,933 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interception in taking them to a record of 9-3. The yardage and passing scores were both at Top-30 in college football but the picks also tied for third-most.
Mensah entered the portal on Monday after his second season with the Green Wave. As their starter as a redshirt freshman, he was 189-287 at 65.9% completion for 2,723 yards and 22 touchdowns, each of which were Top-40 in the sport, along with six interceptions. That led Tulane to having the No. 9 scoring offense at 37.2 ppg. with 421.2 yards a game. It also helped to a record of 9-4 overall in appearing in the AAC Championship and making a run at a berth in the CFP.

Per the current ratings in On3’s Top Transfer Portal Player, Mensah is at No. 15 overall. He also ranks at the No. 3 QB behind only Liberty’s Kaidon Salter and USC’s Miller Moss.
Mensah will continue to be a coveted player, let alone quarterback, as one of the best available in the portal. That’ll now start today for him in Durham with other trips possibly to come from there in his recruitment.
