Rivers Knight is the No. 22 power forward in the updated 2026 On3 150. The 6-foot-8 rising junior transferred to Durham (NC) Jordan High this offseason, where he played his freshman season. He played this summer with the Boo Williams program on Nike’s E16 Circuit.

“I feel like I have no weaknesses really,” Knight told On3. “I can do everything on the court, offensively and defensively. My mentality and my love for the game stand out from others. I watch a lot of Lauri Markkanen. He’s probably the one I try and emulate the most with his ability to handle, shoot, and play defense.”

On3 caught up with three-star forward Rivers Knight recently to discuss the developments in his game and the latest in his recruitment.

“I have offers from schools like Illinois, High Point, Virginia Tech, VCU, LSU, and Mississippi State,” Knight said. “I’ve been to Virginia Tech on an unofficial visit, and I’m talking with VCU and LSU about setting something up, as well.”

Rivers Knight talks schools

VIRGINIA TECH: “They have an engineering program, which is pretty intriguing for me. It is one of the best in the country. Virginia Tech has a beautiful campus and the whole program seems great. I feel like I fit in really well with how they play. Even as a freshman coming in, I feel like I could get a lot of minutes with my versatility and my love for defense. I talk with Coach (Kevin) Giltner a lot with them, he is the one who started recruiting me and we have continued to build our relationship.”

VCU: “Our relationship has continued to grow a lot. They were one of the very first, bigger schools to offer me. I have a great relationship with Coach (Ryan) Odom, he mentors me some anytime I have a question about recruitment or basketball in general. I can just reach out to him and he will always text me back or get back with me to talk about it.”

LSU: “Things are going well with them, I talk a lot with a couple of their coaches pretty regularly. A couple of my teammates and my friends are being recruited by them as well, so it’s cool. I’ve watched them a little bit, and I love the SEC and I really like how Coach (Matt) McMahon plays. I think with my versatility It would be a good fit with that program.”

“I talk with schools like Iowa and Harvard a good bit,” Knight said. “Also, South Carolina is another one we talk with a good bit, so we will see where all of that goes.”

In his words

“I’m taking my time with all this recruiting,” Knight said. “I still have another two years to go through this so I am just trying to enjoy it all.

“I want to be able to come in as a freshman and be able to contribute in a great way, especially in the games. I’ll be looking for a program that fits my play style, I know it is a bit unique but being able to play in a system that has my type of play style would be great. And finally, I want to go somewhere that has a sense of culture and a sense of togetherness. I want to play for an actual team.
