As the sports world awaits news on Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, ESPN’s Robert Griffin had a message for fans. Hamlin was taken to a hospital and is currently in critical condition after collapsing on the field Monday evening in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Amidst the heartbreaking situation, Griffin took to Twitter to urge fans to respect the privacy of Hamlin and his family by not sharing video of the horrific incident. Instead, Griffin shared a photo of Buffalo players kneeling in prayer for Hamlin, urging fans to share that instead.

“Please don’t share the video of the Damar Hamlin play,” Robert Griffin wrote in his tweet. “Share this because we are all Praying for him and his family.”

The game was eventually postponed so that players could collect themselves in the face of what happened. Below is the latest on Damar Hamlin’s condition.

Damar Hamlin intubated, listed in critical condition at hospital

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was intubated at a local hospital and listed in critical condition, according to an update from FOX19. Hamlin left the football field via ambulance after receiving CPR and the use of a defibrillator while still on the field Monday night. While being transported to the hospital nearly 30 minutes after his injury, an initial report indicated that Hamlin was unable to breathe under his own power but had a pulse.

“I am told that Damar Hamlin has been intubated and is currently listed in critical condition,” detailed FOX19’s Tricia Macke.

The scene on the field was a traumatic one for the entire NFL, as the status of Hamlin’s life remained in question nearly an hour later.

Hamlin appeared to be injured on a tackle he made in the first quarter that ended with him getting back up to his feet seemingly okay after the play. Quickly afterwards, Hamlin stumbled and collapsed on the field — leading to a lengthy break in the game as he was attended to by medical staff with players surrounding him.

The broadcast returned during the break several times during the horrific moment, and players appeared to be in distress from what was happening on the field. The broadcast provided a small update to the situation, indicating that medical staff was performing CPR on Hamlin.

After another extended break during the broadcast as medical staff continued to work on Hamlin, another small update indicated that he had been successfully placed on a backboard and stretcher, but had not yet been fully taken in the ambulance. As Hamlin was loaded into the ambulance, he was receiving oxygen as well from the medical staff.

The NFL ultimately postponed Monday’s game entirely, as players from both sides were unable to continue the game after the terrible moment.
