This season seems like the first in recent memory that doesn’t have a runaway leader in the Heisman race by this point in the year. While some players have separated themselves as leading contenders, the debate on who will win the award this year is wide open. Following Week 11, former Heisman winner Robert Griffin III has revealed his top eight contenders.

Griffin III’s top Heisman contenders following Week 11

Alabama QB Bryce Young: Young is probably the lone player that has remained towards the top of Heisman lists throughout the season. In his first year as Alabama’s starting quarterback, young has thrown for 3,025 yards, 33 touchdowns, and three interceptions with two rushing touchdowns. He has six 300-yard games and has accounted for three or more total touchdowns in all but two games this year.

Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker III: Walker has been a star on Michigan State’s offense. He is a big reason behind the Spartans’ success this year. On the season, Walker has rushed for 1,473 yards and 17 touchdowns to go along with a touchdown reception. He has two 200+ yard rushing games and has rushed for 100 yards in all but three games. Walker might be the favorite to win the Heisman through Week 11.

Ohio State QB CJ Stroud: The Buckeyes have one of the nation’s best offenses and Stroud is a big reason for that. In his first year as Ohio State’s starter, Stroud has thrown for 3,036 yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Stroud has thrown for 300 yards six times, and he has five 4+ touchdown games.

Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett: Pickett has led the way to a successful season for Pittsburgh. He has thrown for 3,517 yards, 32 touchdowns and four interceptions, along with 231 yards and four scores on the ground. Pickett has thrown for at least 272 yards in all but one game, with multiple touchdowns in every game.

Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman: Wake Forest’s offense has put up monster numbers with Hartman at the helm. On the season, he has 3,163 yards, 30 touchdowns and eight interception. He also has 328 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. Hartman has rushed for a touchdown in six consecutive games and he has accounted for four touchdowns in five straight games.

Ole Miss QB Matt Corral: Corral’s Heisman campaign has cooled off as he’s dealt with injuries. But he’s still right there. On the season, Corral has thrown for 2,774 yards, 17 touchdowns and two interceptions. He has also rushed for 523 yards and ten touchdowns. About a month ago, Corral was right there at the top in the Heisman race.

Baylor RB Abram Smith: Griffin III went to Baylor, and he’s sharing some love with Smith. On the season, Smith has rushed for 1,203 yards and 11 touchdowns. Smith has seven 100-yard rushing games, including four straight with at least 125.

Georgia DL Jordan Davis: The impact of Davis doesn’t show up on the ordinary stat sheet. On the season, he has 23 tackles and two sacks. But he makes a big impact at the line of scrimmage. Davis is one of the best run stoppers in college football. He is a vital part of Georgia’s defensive success.
