4-star Sammie Yeanay talks visits; updates recruitment
Sammie Yeanay took a big step this summer. The 6-foot-8 forward is now the No. 84 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. Through eight games with Gainesville (FL) The Rock School this season, he is averaging 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds on 39.3 percent (11-of-28) from three.
“I’m a versatile player,” Yeanay told On3. “I can score it, pass, push the ball up the floor, just get my teammates open. It’s all about winning with me; anything my coaches need me to do, I get it done.”
The recruiting process is really just getting started for the four-star; however, some schools have already started making a move. On3 talked with Sammie Yeanay after a recent live viewing to see where things are at in his recruitment.
“I haven’t been on any officials yet,” Yeanay said. “I’ve been on an unofficial to Wake Forest, and I’m setting a date for an official with Houston coming up.”
Yeanay talks recruitment
Houston: “Their playing style sticks out, especially with their fours. Look at what Jarace Walker is doing there now. They allow their forwards to get the rebound and push the floor and make plays with the ball in their hands.”

Wake Forest: “I saw their culture around the program. I got to talk a lot with the coaching staff on my visit. They showed me how they play their bigs. I loved their flow of the game, especially for the fours and fives. The way they space out everything. Chris Paul and Tim Duncan both went there.
“They like my versatility on the floor. They think my being able to handle the ball and pass fits well with their offense and spacing.
In his words
“I want to go play for a coach who keeps it real with me,” Yeanay said. “I’ll look for a program that wants to work with me and my development for the next level. The NBA is my goal. I want to play in a system that allows their big men to make plays, push the ball up the floor, and play inside and out.”
